๐ŸƒTrading Cards?

After the community vote Package 3 won, which means there will not be any plans to create trading cards - right now!

Printed trading cards

The concept is simple; create a physical printed set of Machine Headz trading cards to be distributed to NFT owners! Machine Headz NFTs would function perfectly as trading cards since they are very visual. We could create different rarities and give our Headz stats, something like Clan, abilities, and/or rarity. One idea being considered would be to create only unique cards, like a real NFT drop, but with physical trading cards. This would be more complex to create since every print would be unique and thus would be more expensive to print. You would be the only one in the world holding that set of Machine Headz cards!

An alternative idea is to print some duplicates but specify them on the card the rarity. This would be more cost-efficient and easier to implement. We could also add a set of unique 1/1s. For example, one statistic on the card could be 1/10 and that would mean only 10 cards with this motif were printed.

Printed Poker deck

As for physical assets, this could be easy to implement. We would create a deck of standard playing cards with selected art from the Machine Headz project. 52 unique pieces on each card. Everyone would get the same deck. This would be a cool and satisfying way to have some real Machine Headz in print but still be exclusive to Machine Headz holders. Some Clan Leaders would be included in the higher card tiers such as Jack/Queen/King.

Challenges and Costs

When dealing with the production and distribution of a physical product, there are naturally more challenges to the successful implementation, especially when compared to a digital-native product. Increased time and fiat money are requirements to produce a physical product, but luckily I have experience in printing production.

Cost is impossible to calculate before we know the shipping addresses and amount of production. Therefore we need to gauge interest and collect shipping addresses & quantities BEFORE we print anything. Interested parties would need to pre-order the cards before we move into production. Keep in mind, we need to collect your shipping address. When we have all this, we can calculate exact printing & distribution costs.

Shipping

Owners of a Machine Headz NFT would receive this stuff for mint price or at printing cost at the highest. For example, if we decide upon creating trading cards for everyone who holds a Season 2 - you will get a set of โ€œfreeโ€ cards. The mint cost will hopefully cover all associated physical printing costs (hopefully). However, shipping costs would be paid by the owner, somewhere in the range of $10-$20 USD depending on where you live and package size.

How would this work?

  1. Launch season 2 to cover printing and distribution expenses

  2. Collect orders from owners, shipping addresses, and amount

  3. Calculate budget and shipping costs

  4. Order print

  5. Order distribution service (or do it myself, since this is very costly)

  6. Collect shipping costs from owners (if needed, if the ADA price moves upwards, maybe the project could cover that. But don't count on it.)

  7. Send everything out

  8. Wait for Twitter to blow up with all the beautiful prints.
